A man may face child neglect charges for leaving his six-month-old baby alone inside the car parked across Horiguchi building in Garapan.

The baby was unharmed., but she was found crying in the front seat of the car yesterday morning.

Police office Calvin Farley, who came to the baby’s rescue, berated the father, a Chinese contract worker identified only as Lee, when he came back to pick up her baby.

Lee said he only went to Horiguchi building to make a phone call.

“Don’t you know that you’re not supposed to leave your baby unattended inside the car even for one minute?” Farley told Lee.

The police took the baby into the ambulance, and refused to give her back to her father while awaiting representatives from the Division of Youth Services.

“DYS will be the one to decide whether or not to file charges against the baby’s father. If the baby is found sick and dehydrated, he might face charges,” Farley said.
