More than 300 ballots will be mailed out this week by the Board of Elections for registered CNMI voters who are off-island, an election official said Friday.

“We have advised off-island voters to fill in the ballots and mail them back to us as soon as they received them,” BOE Executive Director Greg Sablan said.

Most of the off-island voters are students who are enrolled in schools and universities.

Ballots from the absentee voters will be opened at the same time with the ones cast in the CNMI, Sablan said.

The counting, to be held at the Multi-purpose Center, will start immediately after the elections, Sablan added.

The board closed the voters’ registration last Thursday.

Sablan said more than 14,000 voters have registered for the political exercise, which involves elections for senators, House members, municipal councilors, and Board of Education members.

The board is now in the process of validating the ballots that will be used for the Nov. 6 midterm elections.

Political parties and independent candidates have launched their election campaign, and the board has reminded them to observe the elections laws. (MCM)
