Sharks 88, Diamond 83

Sharks came from behind to defeat Diamond Car Care 88-83 in overtime Monday night.

Diamond Car Care was leading through out the game but ran out of gas in the last seconds in regulation. Sharks played hard defense going into the second trailing by as much as 15 points at halftime.

Rodney Catalla hit a 3-pointer with three seconds remaining, giving the Car takers a one-point lead 76-75. Gus Palacios was fouled by Den Guerrero and that sent Palacios to the line for the win. Palacios however missed his first free throw but converted on the second free throw to tie the game a 76-76 at regulation.

Overtime was a different story since the momentum of the game changed in favor of the Sharks.

Sharks once again did their full court press and this was the main reason why they won the game. Sharks had a total of 26 steals.

Gus Palacios had 24 points. John “The Faceman” Santos contributed 19 points, two assists, 11 rebounds, six steals. Dave Camacho had give assists, eight rebounds, and a steal.

Lloyd Hartman had 15 points, one assist, six block shots, 12 rebounds, and two 2 steals. Fernando Muleta and Bernard Montano had 14 points apiece, while Memo Elesar had three assists, one block shots, eight rebounds, and three steals.

GTE Pacifica 102,
Saipan Stars 91

GTE Pacifica defeated Saipan Stars 102-91 in the curtain raiser at the Ada Gym Monday night, with Mark Wallace scoring 25 points.

He dished out four assists, grabbed four rebounds and a steal. Doc Brostrom had 19 points, one assist and eight rebounds. Aaron Burch had 30 points, four assists, three block shots, 18 rebounds, and two steals. Mike Dodge had 26 points, one assist, six rebounds, and two steals in a losing cause.
