Institutionalized liberal racism

Race and culture are still paramount issues at many universities across the United States. At these liberal institutions, politically-correct professors are fond of celebrating “diversity” and “multiculturalism,” while promoting affirmative action, inter-group harmony and “group rights.” Their idea is to combat racial discrimination by embracing collectivism rather than rugged individualism.

It never occurs to these people that man is a self-made being, defined by himself; and that his identity is what he decides for himself, not what others (race, culture) determine for him. They do not believe that a life decided exclusively or substantially by others is slavery, which is a life not worth living.

In a very real sense, the liberal civil rights activist fighting for social justice is probably just as racist as the average Klu Klux Klansman. Like a neo-Nazi skin-head, the liberal wants to keep focusing on color and race–to categorize people into special groups and sub-groups.

Liberals want people to celebrate their “unique cultural heritages”–to be “proud of who they are,” regardless of their race, culture, or color. They want people to own up to their “cultural identities” and not to “deny who they are”–i.e., become corrupted by logical Western influences or by Western Civilization itself, which is why they want to ban the great Western classics from the curriculum.

Never mind that a person is first and foremost an individual. Never mind that race is (or should be)immaterial, irrelevant. Never mind that one should not be proud of his or her race or ancestry, because there is no choice in the matter, because race is arbitrary. Never mind that, logically speaking, one should only be proud of things that are earned or achieved.

The liberal mind wants to cast all of these rational considerations aside and thrust race right at the forefront of academia and contemporary political activism. The liberal mind does not adhere to the individualistic philosophy and cannot accept the fact that individuals may choose to act contrary to their culture of origin, or to reject it altogether.

As far as some libertarians are concerned, they have no cultural identity and do not care to report one. The liberal cannot accept such instances of individualistic self-determination.

Liberals contend that people are “social animals.” And while I concede that this is true, I would also add that people are economic animals too. And herein lies the future salvation of individualism and the deconstruction of tribalism (in all its forms: race, culture, etc.).

Here I am alluding to the “decline of the nation state” thesis. In other words, I believe that economics, globalization, free trade, information technology, among other trends, will eventually lead to the demise of culture and race as we know it. There will be exciting new paradigms. The old world view (nationalism) may well become obsolete in the 21st Century.

Culture, after all, is nothing more than a utilitarian phenomena; it is not stagnant, but constantly adapts and evolves instead. It lays the groundwork for certain social rules and ways of dealing with the world. And when these ground rules are no longer useful, they should be promptly discarded before all progress is halted.

The liberal cannot handle such a liberating development. He condemns it as the “McDonaldization of the world.”

Liberals want true ethnic and cultural diversity throughout. They want to coerce people to continue to identify with their respective racial groups, which basically amounts to what they claim they have been fighting all along: institutionalized racism, albeit in slightly different form.
