2 convicted rapists to be sentenced in March

The Superior Court has set on March 20, 2000 the sentencing of Jose O. Rabauliman and Hadley F. Renguul who were recently convicted of kidnapping and raping two Chinese women almost two years ago.
A six-man jury said the two men acted in concert with one another in raping Wang-Quin Li and Hong- Jin Wang.
Kidnapping carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. Since the crime committed was gang-rape, the two faces a maximum penalty of 20 years, according to Assistant Attorney General James J. Benedetto.
Ms. Li and Ms. Wang, who used to work at Caesar’s Sauna in Garapan, were heading toward their staff house after having breakfast at J’s Restaurant when four men grabbed them in front of the Horiguchi building and brought them to Suicide Cliff in the early morning of March 28, 1998.
In her testimony, Ms. Li positively identified Mr. Rabauliman as the one who abducted her and forced her to have oral sex as two men held her.
Two other men — Sheldon Yano and Jake Ito –– were involved in the kidnap-rape case. Mr. Yano is now detained in a correction facility in the U.S. mainland for his involvement in a prison riot last year. On the other hand, Mr. Ito was immediately sent to prison after he testified against his companions as part of a plea agreement with the prosecution.
The incident was discovered by a Korean national who went to Suicide Cliff for a walk along with a male companion. While heading in that direction, he reportedly saw a man on top of a woman who was struggling to free herself.
The witness called up the Department of Public Safety using the Grotto Emergency Assistance telephone. When police officers went to the scene, they saw the victims running, one of whom was half-naked.
