No-Fear drops out of Rocball season
The Jammers defeated Monday No-Fear in 3 sets 36 to 8. This was No-Fear’s third lose and their elimination for the rest of the season. The Jammers led by their heavy hitter, Tarness Kapwich, won every set of the game. In the first set the Jammers won 12 to 3 scratch, the second set was a match 13 to 5, and the Jammers ended what time remained in the game with a scunk 9 to 0 set. Tarness scored 1 ace, 1 xunk, 3 kees and 1 goal for 13 points.
In last week’s second game, DX, last year’s champions, and Igi-Odo were both at 2 1osses and 1 win. This was an elimination game for one or the other team: Three losses and your out. In the strongest showing so far this year DX started the game off by winning the first match 16 to 5 and came back in the second set and blanked
Igi-Odo scunk 11 to 0. In the third set, DX was playing hot and continued to dominate Igi-Odo in a 14 to 0 scunk set. When time ran out in the fourth set DX had the game in the bag with an impressive 46 to 16 win. The heavy hitter of this game was Kelvin Seman of the DX with 5 aces, 3 xunks, and 2 kees for 20 points.
In last week’s third game, the Shooting Stars from San Antonio Village defeated the Brotherhood from the Northern Marianas College in a hard played three-set game. In the first set the Brotherhood defeated the Shooting Stars in a match set 15 to 11. In the second set, the Shooting Stars came back and beat the Brotherhood 17 to
12 in another match set. The Shooting Stars’ victory in the second set gave the San Antonio players a one-point lead going into the final set of their game 28 to 27. In the third set the Shooting Stars took a 3 point lead when time ran out and they won. In this game, there were 10 aces, 2 xunks, 14 kees, and 4 goals scored.
Asterio Tawaapiy of the Shooting Stars was the game’s heavy hitter with 2 aces, 3 kees, and 1 goal for 13 points.
In last week’s fourth game, Gymless, (a team made up of Mariana High School Faculty and named Gymless because after seven years of off and on again construction, MHS still doesn’t have a gymnasium), and the Bwilbwils played out on one of the hardest fought games of the year.
In the first set, Gymless came out hard and fast to win set one scratch 12 to 2. But in the second set the Bwilbwils stormed back and scratched set the Gymless 14 to 3. Bwilbwils’ second set victory put them out in the lead in total points 16 to 12. However, in the third set, as the lead changed back and forth, the Gymless was able to put their mark on the victory with a 17 to 10 match win. The final score for this game was Gymless 32 and Bwilbwils 26. This gave Gymless their fourth win and they remain the only undefeated team this year. In this game, there were 5 aces, 5 xunks, 12 kees, and 6 goals scored.
John Rubeunog of the Bwiibwils was the game’s heavy hitter with 2 aces, 2 xunks, 3 kees, and 3 goals for 23 points.
In last week’s fifth game, the Chuukanos defeated the Jammers in three sets 41 to 34. The Chuukanos had to come from behind to win this game. The Jammers came out in the first set and defeated the Chuukanos 12 to 3 scratch. In the second set, the Chuukanos rallied to beat the Jammers 20 to 11 in a match set. The going into the third and what would be the final set of the game was tied 23 to 23.
In the final set of the game, both teams played equally well up to when both teams had scored around 8 points each. The defense of the Jammers weaken and the Chuukanos started pulling ahead as their servers started scoring 2 point aces. In the third and final set, the Chuukanos closed it out in a 18 to 11 match set. In this game, there were 6 aces, 2 xunks, 16 kees, and 5 goals scored. Reagan Takuo was the game’s heavy hitter with 2 aces, 2 xunks, 5 kees and 1 goal for 21 points.
