Hunters bounce back; defeat Bad Boyz 13-8
After a five-game losing streak at the ’99 season, the CSI Hunters are now riding a three-game winning streak with their latest victory, a 13-8 drubbing over the Bad Boyz last Sunday at Koblerville Elementary School Softball Field.
The Hunters tallied 18 hits, including 10 for extra bases led by the league’s very own president Bob Guerrero with two doubles and a triple.
Dave Santos chipped in a triple and a two-run homer and John Reyes helped out with a double and an inside-the-park round-tripper to lead the Hunters’ extra bases attack. Mel Sakisat had two doubles and a homer to lead the Bad Boyz in a losing effort.
The victory improved the Hunters record to 3-5, and dropped the Bad Boyz to 5-4.
In the second fastpitch game of the day, the league leader Lite Hit & Run won their ninth game of the season with an 11-8 victory over the Tanapag Waves.
Manager Pat Tenorio led the Beermen’s offensive attack with a homerun and four RBI’s and Francis George hit two triples to lead the league with five while veteran Tony Satur proves he is still the pitcher to reckon with coming in relief of Jess Manibusan to pitch five shut-out innings with six strike-outs.
The Beermen jumped on top 11-4 after 2 1/2 innings of play but the Waves then countered, cutting the lead to 11-8 with no-outs in the bottom of the third before Satur came and halted the Waves’ momentum for the final margin of the game.
After both teams let loose off their ammunition in the first three innings, pitching and the defense then took over the rest of the way with both teams failing to score, managing just two-hits a piece in the next four innings of play.
