NMC seeks permanent emblem
The Northern Marianas College is seeking to replace its existing logo with a new emblem that will symbolize the institution’s commitment to providing quality higher education to the people of the CNMI.
Three finalists have been chosen by a committee which conducted the CNMI-wide search for the insignia that will best describe the goals of the College in instilling the importance of education to Northern Marianas residents.
The committee reviewed at least 28 entries submitted by artists from throughout the Northern Marianas from where the three best insignias were selected and presented to the Board of Regents yesterday.
The three entries which received the highest scores during preliminary selection by the NMC logo committee is now under review by the members of the Board of Regents who will make the final choice.
The logos were characterized by a traditional voyage canoe which, according to the artist, represents the indigenous people’s high skills in developing trade with other Micronesian islands and in discovering new ways to improve the quality of living on the island.
Another entry captures NMC’s commitment to religiously develop local skills and knowledge, as well as produce well-trained individuals, in a logo of an open book, flowers and graduation caps.
The third entry has a torch to represent NMC’s undying commitment to advance the importance of education and knowledge, and latte stones which depicts the Commonwealth’s cultures and tradition.
