Stop whining

I am very surprised that the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation has the audacity to threaten the government that they will start disconnecting government offices for delinquent payments. They claim that since the government will not appropriate the $4 million to pay the delinquent amount due that they will have to disconnect the government just like they disconnect the public. Come on, let’s get real.

How much money has CUC received from CIP Improvements? Just this year CUC requested for $27 million in CIP funds! Why shouldn’t this apply toward the government’s delinquent payment? After all, CUC receives the direct benefit from receiving such funds. Don’t they charge us for power and water?

I find it rather disturbing that an “autonomous” agency has to threaten the very government that helps build CUC’s infrastructure. Talk about ungratefulness.

Leave Tinian’s and Rota’s budget alone. The people of these islands need this money for their economy. If people think that these islands are swimming in money, think again.

Tinian was the only municipality to cut hours during the austerity measures. Tinian was the only municipality that assisted the central government agencies with local funds during budget shortfalls. For an island that made drastic cuts in government hours and assisted the central government in times of need, I think Tinian at least deserves the right to have their original $15 million budget.

CUC should just wake up and stop whining.
