Local teenagers exhibited true farming potentials last month when they succeeded in gathering an assortment of over 200 fruits and vegetables as entries under the Future Farmers and the Northern Marianas College booth at the 4H grounds in Susupe.

The NMC Cooperative Research Extension and Education Service with FFA molded the students to dedicate an agricultural booth promoting local harvests of fruits and vegetables that the youths of Saipan cultivated.

According to NMC officials, a significant number of entries and diversity of produce grown shows that the interest of farming among youths in the CNMI have increased a great deal over the years.

Varieties of fruits and vegetables were entered for display and judging.
Among the entries, 63 were categorized as first place recipients, 63 took second place, 53 garnered third place, and 30 entries received honorable mentions.

In support of CNMI’s future farmers, NMC, the Department of Lands and Natural Resources, and the agricultural class at Marianas High School joined hands in making it possible for students to accumulate a wide variety of produce in time for the Saipan Agricultural Fair.

Students also extend warm gratitude to other supporters like Tom Pritchard, Linwood Seaver, Cynthia Tudela and Lucy Seaver.

Special recognition also goes to the following students who participated in the activity: Marla Palacios, Miki Kashi, Gina Cabrera, Sheelane Santos, Gentry William, Albert Leon Guerrero, Elizabeth Deleon Guerrero, Veronica Songao, Lee Tudela, Jay Camacho, Ben Kipson, Jester Garcia, Maria Merano, B.J.
