SBDC urges businesses to give emphasis on customer service

While there are a variety of available schemes a business may utilize to attract customer patronage, it takes so much effort to keep them coming back.

In fact, concerns on the quality of service customers receive or, in some cases, do not get have consistently been topped the list of issues local businesses have been eagerly wanting to promptly and effectively address in order to improve sales.

The Small Business Development Center of the Northern Marianas College is making it easy for local entrepreneurs to improve relationship with their patrons through a workshop aimed at improving the delivery of services to customers, considered the lifeblood of any investment.

The workshop, which will be held on Thursday at the NMC-SBDC Building conference room, will feature a presentation by customer relations expert Josephine Mesta, director of Hyatt Regency-Saipan’s human resources department for over five years.

Ms. Mesta was the regional director of human resources for Hyatt in Micronesia and Korea.
She holds a Master’s degree in Education Administration from the University of Hawaii, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Hawaii Pacific College.

The workshop was designed to provide employee orientation and customer relations training program to help enhance the skills and techniques necessary to increase customer satisfaction.

Ms. Mesta will try to instill the value of identifying typical characteristics of service organization, as well as define the scope of the service sector in her presentation during the seminar-training.

Participants will also have the chance to know how customer service complements product quality and price.

The workshop will likewise define aspects of special services, explain the importance of guest relations, identify techniques and emphasize the important role employees play in generating positive guest relations.

Seating for the seminar will be limited to 20 partakers to allow for maximum participation and idea generation. Interested individuals are requested to call and make reservations with Robert Suzuki at the NMC-SBDC at 235-1551.
