CNMI All-Stars head to Far-East Little League

Saipan Little League All-Stars will represent the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands in the up coming 2000 Far-East Regional Little League Baseball Tournament to be held in Guam beginning July 26th through the 30th.

Saipan All-Stars earned the spot to represent the CNMI after defeating Rota and Tinian in the recent district tournament.

Defending World Series champions Japan, China, Korea, Hong Kong, Jakarta, CNMI, Guam and the Philippines are set to compete in this prestigious tournament.

China, Korea, Japan and Hong Kong comprise Group A while the CNMI, Jakarta, Guam and the Philippines are under Group B. The winner in each pool will face off in the championship game on July 30th at 1:00 p.m. at the Paseo Stadium in Agana. The team that prevails will advance to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in August.

The Far-East Regional Tournament also will highlight the presence of Frank Lupacchino, international director from Williamsport, Pennsylvania as well as Mamoru Itoh, Far-East Region director from Japan and James A. Ada, Far-East Region deputy director and district administrator of Little League Baseball of the CNMI.
