Japanese students learn English first hand
Students from Japan’s largest English school are currently on island learning about the language first hand.
Youths from the Peppy Kids Club, a Nagoya-based school focused on tutoring Japanese students aged 2 to 12 years old verbal and oral English have paid Saipan a visit as part of the requirements in the school’s curriculum.
The students are being accommodated by local host families who have opened up their homes for the foreign students.
During their stay, the Japanese students were provided the chance to experience the island way of living and other cultural activities.
A significant portion of their time was spent getting to know their adopted families.
Yesterday, the students had the opportunity to meet and converse with Governor Pedro P. Tenorio, as they were also exposed to learning the Chamorro language during their stay.
The group also toured several government agencies as well as the island’s most visited sites.
‘The Pacific Development Inc. took care of the students’ transportation services during the five-day trip.
The group arrived on Saipan last Friday and is scheduled to leave today. Two more batches of students from the same institution are still set to arrive within the next few days.
The Peppy Kids Club of Japan is a school home to over 40,000 students from 470 different locations. The institution employs some 620 teachers.
This is the first time that the school sent its students to Saipan for the educational trip instead of Guam.
In succeeding years, PDI Sales Manager Jun Iyama said the school will continually be sending its students to the CNMI for the exposure trip. (MM)
