CHC welcomes new geriatric specialist

Dr. Olalekan Ariyo recently arrived on the island and will be joining the Department of Internal Medicine next week.

Dr. Ariyo received his US Board Certification in Internal Medicine in 1999 after completing his Internal Medicine residency at Cook County Hospital, Chicago, Illinois. Cook County Hospital is one of the busiest in the nation. He has just recently completed a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine. He is originally from Nigeria, Africa, where he completed medical school.

Dr. Ariyo is the hospital’s and the Commonwealth’s first gerontologist, a doctor skilled in the art and science of process and problems of aging/elderly.
With the addition of Dr. Ariyo to the CHC medical staff, CNMI’s elderly citizens are able to receive consultation and treatment of diseases unique to older persons.

Dr. Ariyo also has a special interest in oncology, the medical science of cancer, and will be treating many patients afflicted with this disease.

With the increasing numbers of senior citizens in the community, and the threat of cancer, Dr. Ariyo is a welcome addition to CHC.
