143 Filipinos take civil service exam
Visiting Philippine Civil Service Commission officials successfully conducted RP government eligibility examinations at Marianas High School yesterday, with a total of 143 examinees.
The three-hour test both for overseas Filipino professionals and sub-professionals has been slated on Saipan for the first time, simultaneously with Singapore.
According to CSC Chief Personnel Specialist Sam V. Manglicmot, the agency has conducted a series of computer-assisted overseas exams for Filipino expatriates in selected locations all over the world since 1996.
The commission first offered its first out-of-the-country testing services in Hong Kong four years ago due to demands by the nation’s population of OFWs.
“This is actually a part of CSC’s line up of programs as part of our Centennial celebration in September,” said Mr. Manglicmot.
Results of yesterday’s 200-item exam are scheduled to come out within two weeks. The Philippine Consulate will be provided a copy of the “pass and fail” masterlist.
Successful examinees who acquire a score of 88 percent and beyond will receive the rare privilege of being invited to join the public sector to occupy highly competitive jobs.
According to Mr. Manglicmot, this privilege to top-notchers has been placed to recognize the country’s best and brightest and lure more exceptional talents to work for the government.
“We are giving premium to our kababayans who obtain high scores. We launched this because we need good people to work in the government. We also follow their career path,” said Mr. Manglicmot.
This newly-installed CSC has drawn more and more professionals every year due to the relative improvement in compensation offered to elite examinees.
Since 1995, a little over 250 examinees have succeeded in gaining 88 percent or higher scores in the eligibility exam.
Mr. Manglicmot, along with CSC personnel specialists Alma M. Tuazon and Violeta De Venecia Andres, is scheduled to leave the island today to deliver the test exams to the CSC Central office where it will be processed by state-of-the-art computerized checking system.
