Sablan reelected MVA Board chair

Marianas Visitors Authority Board Chair Dave M. Sablan was voted anew yesterday to assume the top post in the tourism agency’s board of directors.

“I appreciate the vote of confidence given by the board and I will do my best to see to it that the industry will continue to improve,” Mr. Sablan said.

The board chair offered the position which he has held for two years to other board members. But newly-elected Board Director JM Guerrero opposed the move amid the critical stage of the tourism economy.

Also, Managing Director Perry John Tenorio’s contract which expires on Aug. 8, 2000, was renewed for another two years. The board expressed confidence on the leadership of Mr. Tenorio and his two-year performance as head of the agency.

MVA board directors also voted the following: Vice Chair- Ben Borja (Tinian), Secretary-Julian Calvo (Rota), Treasurer – Wendy Herring
Board member Marian Aldan-Pierce, PR & Ad; Kyoshi Aikawa, Tourist Site Development Committee; Ms. Herring, Finance Committee; and Mr. Guerrero, Legislative Committee.
