Suzuki, Forelli win 5K Corporate Challenge
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce held it’s first annual Saipan Chamber of Commerce 5K Corporate Challenge last Friday in a move to raise money for the business groups educational scholarship fund.
Vice-president Tony Mosley said, “This is one of the many events we are putting together this year to collect additional money to our fund. As you know we will be holding our annual Evening with the Chamber later in the year, also to raise money for this fund. We all feel that education of our kids is critical and the business community is backing that up with their financial and in-kind support for our events.”
There were approximately 80 participants who ran in the Chambers first annual Corporate Challenge.
Winners of the Hyatt Regency first prize Individual Male was Yoshiharu Suzuki, who came in at 20 minutes and 8 seconds. The Hyatt Regency first prize Individual Female went to Nicole Forelli for her run of 23 minutes and 23 seconds. The Hyatt Regency Prize was a six-month membership at the Club Elan each.
Saipan Garment Manufacturers (SGMA) Association second prize Individual Male went to Dirk Sharer who came in at 20 minutes and 14 seconds. SGMA second prize Individual Female was Heather Kennedy who came in at 23 minutes and 48 seconds. The SGMA award was a check for $125 and a polo shirt each.
Pacific Islands Club third prize Individual Male winner was Steven Pixley finishing at 20 min. 42 sec., and Individual Female Yvette Murphy coming in at 25 min. 7 sec. Both won Waterpark passes for two, brunch at the Magellan’s club for two, $75, and a PIC towel each.
The Challenge also allowed relay teams to be formed. The GTE Pacifica/MTC First Team prize of $500 went to Team Pacific Islands Club ran by Blaine Rogers, Russ Quinn and K. Musashi finishing in a speedy 17 min. and 13 seconds.
PacifiCare Asia Pacific Award of $250 for second place team went to Team Safety First ran by Tom Gibson, J. Lee and Jack Kabriel in 17 minutes and 59 seconds
Third place team winners for the Hong Kong Shanghai Bank $150 Award went to Team Culture Concepts with Gregg Kresge, Chris Fryling and Ed Urban coming in at 18:37.
What would a corporate challenge be without a prize for best business costume? Team Lend Me a Hand with Gail Berger, John Joyner and N. Carlas sporting handheld telephones, pearl necklaces and pseudo business suits grabbed the goodie bag award which included gifts from DFS, McDonald’s, Pacific Gardenia and Pacific Islands Club.
