The Blocks bids Saipan farewell
Performing before jam-packed crowd especially on weekends, popular Filipino band The Blocks is bidding Saipan farewell on Sept. 24, 2000 for yet another untamed performances in the mainland China’s capital of Beijing.
The Blocks, formed in the southern Philippines province of Cagayan De Oro, has practically toured Asia through the years bringing with them the kind of music that is closest to the audiences’ heart, sending the crowd to an all-night fun on the dance floor.
The group is scheduled to hold its farewell performance on Sunday, Sept. 24, an event which has the promise to be one of the best and biggest parties on Saipan.
Undoubtedly an explosive band, The Blocks promises to send Saipan party animals grooving all-night at the dance floor of the island’s entertainment capital, Hyatt Regency’s Gilligan’s, in a Sunday evening of wholesome fun and good music.
Music enthusiasts, disco buddies and those who were merely looking for a nice weekend gimmick are anticipated to troop the Gilligan’s for their last taste of rockin’ and rollin’, the Blocks 2000 way.
The group has been performing professionally for the past eight years. The Blocks’ live performances have filled up venues at various five-star hotels both in the Philippines and major countries in Asia.
Since the group’s third comeback on Saipan, The Blocks never failed to draw a big crowd in each performance at the Gilligan’s from Tuesday to Sunday.
The group is composed of Jose Reambonanza, keyboard and band member; Angelo Dela Cerna, lead guitarist; Levi Anibersaryo bass guitar; drummer Jimmy Palmos, female vocals Mary Anne Malayaw; and lead vocals John Dayday.
The Blocks has delighted Gilligan’s crowd with songs from as far back as the 1960’s and 1970’s to as contemporary as those of the Backstreet Boys, Shania Twain, Britney Spears, and Santana.
While the group is leaving in two weeks, their kind of music and rapport with Saipan’s party animals will definitely bring them back to the island, for the fourth time, soon.
