Tinian – Sen. David M. Cing (D-Tinian) has donated $1,442.80 to the Tinian Municipal Scholarship (TMS).

The TMS administers scholarships to eligible residents of the Municipality of Tinian and Aguiguan.

“I am happy to donate to this very worthwhile cause—scholarship—on behalf of my business, the Black Spur Arena,” said Sen. Cing in a press release. “My contribution will help many students of Tinian who are seeking college education, and I hope to donate more in the future,” he added.

“The existence of the Tinian Municipal Scholarship program is indicative of our community’s commitment to education,” said Joseph M. Mendiola, treasurer of the Board.
“This contribution is an example of the community of Tinian getting involved to empower our young people with the right tools: education.”

The Tinian Municipal Scholarship processes awards under Tinian Local Laws 5-2 and 6-5, which receive funding from local cattle slaughter fees and donations. Recipients of the local scholarship extend to residents of Tinian seeking college degrees, and are required to return to Tinian to work immediately after graduation as part of its “pay back” policy.
