From my scrap book
The CNMI is the victim of self-inflicted implosions. Today, how we wish policy makers of previous legislatures never had to reign-in political correctness to bluff complex economic issues they really are ill-equipped to handle with decency.
As such, we watch the speculative bubble effects of these measures hasten our reeling economy further south. This is the direct result of arrogance, riddled with incompetence and adolescency in the manner that policy makers have handled the crisis.
In musical parlance, we’re all singing the refrain on top of our voices convinced we’re in sync and harmony. It actually sounds like raw recording where the technician neglects to press the Dolby button to muffle it to decency. It’s a case of near-total disorientation that gradually became second nature.
Now, the alleged “good guys” are back tracking declaring “we’re here to fix this mess”. Nice try! But you’re a little too late, Army. The deafening effects of your warped wisdom has panned-out in the Northern Marianas Community rendering greater hardship against the people whose lot you’re supposed to improve. It’s the complete reverse.
Revenue generation has gone south. It’ll be about a decade before we could really see any positive results in our often suspect claim of economic recovery. As this phenomenon unfolds and descends on these isles, our best shot is guarded optimism that there would, in fact, be recovery in Japan and nearby Asian countries.
I do not relish our bouts with the Asian crisis, fueled by shortsighted policies that have only hastened reeling revenue generation. It’s about time that we learn to employ foresight, vision and commitment. Lest this is strengthened, eh, we’d all be walking around convinced we have visions when we actually meant, well, television! Di ba?
Sen. Kumoi’s SF Junket
Senator Ramon Guerrero (Kumoi) is in San Francisco attending a policy session reportedly sponsored by the US Department of Interior.
That isn’t the newsy aspect of the trip in that Senator Kumoi needs to learn what policy is all about from conception, input, formulation, actual consideration through implementation.
For all his claim (in a recent trip to Washington) that he is there to protect taxpayers, he’s confirmed such knee-jerk commitment by bringing his secretary along with him. It’s an interesting trip given that it is limited to a few policy-makers from the various jurisdictions.
Perhaps he brought his secretary along to take dictation (if she has shorthand or stenographic skills) on policy. I frankly don’t see such a need for a secretary when the gathering is one of a briefing session for policy makers. But then our almighty savior may have an answer to taxpayers for granting his secretary an all paid for vacation at taxpayers expense. So much for his vacuous claim of protecting expenditure of taxpayers’ hard-earned money.
It goes without saying that Senator Kumoi has never learned the definition of accountability of public funds. But then it’s the usual Kumoi who can’t stand not tooting his horn on things he’s convinced he could bluff with side shuffles. Nah! People have caught up with your antics, sir!
When will you learn that you “can’t fool all the people all of the time?”
