Outstanding Filipinos feted in night of salutation
Half a dozen “Bagong Bayani’ or New Heroes, as overseas Filipino workers are called in the Philippines, were treated to a night of salutation by the Philippine Consulate General last Saturday at the Aqua Resort Club.
In her speech, Consul General Julia C. Heidemann said, “We are here to give honor and thanks to our countrymen who have unselfishly devoted time and effort to help Filipino citizens in the CNMI.”
She also said that giving the awardees Certificates of Recognition is such a small thing compared to the services and expertise they have contributed not only to the Filipino community in the CNMI, but also to Philippines and the CNMI as well.
Tan Group of Companies founder and President Willie Tan led the awardees for Certificates of Recognition. Other recipients include Nestor Alegre, MIFICPA; Rodrigo Ceron, Ceron Equipment; Wilfredo “Boy” Ching, VISMINDA; Geoffrey Melchor, MAFEA; and Eli Arago, another awardee from the Tan Group of Companies.
“This is not the time to make messages, rather it is the time to renew our commitment and give thanks to all of you who have inspired our countrymen,” Ms. Heidemann said. “Congratulations and may you continue to work for a united Filipino community here in the CNMI.”
Certificates of Appreciation were also handed out to Jimmy Arila, MIARA; Minda Castro, MAFILWA; Luzon Cruz, Filcor; Richard Heidemann, Fil-Taga Golfers’ Association; Geoffrey Melchor, UFO, Inc.; Bong Malasarte, MDX, Ruel Nava, Samahang Laguna; Ed Reyes, SAFSWO; Almer Santos, CNMI Chess Association; Alejandro Willy, BIBAK; Rolly Bigalbal, Phil-USA; Ed Caranzo, Filcom; Nick Loste, Filcom; Ivan Quichocho, Continental Micronesia; Danny San Pedro, Coca Cola; Manny Vilaga, Saipan Cyclers Association; and Dennis Yoshimoto, CMS.
