Japanese businessman honored

The assistance he extends to alleviate the Commonwealth’s economic condition through development of tourism and other services, made Japanese businessman Toyoju Ishikawa a recipient of recognition from the Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council.

A Municipal Council Commemorative Resolution was handed out by Council Chair Gregorio V. Deleon Guerrero, Vice Chair David Indalecio and Secretary Jesus SN. Lizama to Mr. Ishikawa of Fuji-Shi, Shizuoka, Japan,

Mr. Ishikawa has been actively campaigning and training NMI youth to learn new skills to effectively promote the tourism industry to other areas including Japan.

The businessman was also responsible for the restoration of the Matsue Statue in the Sugar King Park in Garapan and has invited several times in the past, several tour groups to Saipan.

The resolution also noted the businessman’s invitation to train and house Mariana Visitor Bureau maintenance staff in Japan and was also instrumental in enticing the Boy Scout of Japan to make an annual trips to the CNMI.

“Through Mr. Ishikawa’s exceptional services, the CNMI is now enjoying economic and cultural benefits from these annual trips, and the council extends special recognition to him for his unselfish and unequivocal efforts towards the promotion of profound friendship between the people of Japan and the CNMI,” part of the resolution reads.
