Have you got what it takes to be a Tagaman? How about a PowerAde Tagaman?

PowerAde, the popular sports drink distributed on Saipan by the Coca-Cola Beverage Company (Micronesia), Inc., announced last week their plans to sponsor a group of triathletes in the upcoming Tagaman Triathlon.

The event, scheduled for May 19, includes a 2 kilometer swim, followed by a 60 kilometer bike ride, and finishes with a 15 kilometer run. The Tagaman triathlon attracts top athletes from a number of countries including Australia, Japan, Micronesia, the Philippines, and the United States.

Danny San Pedro, Operations Manager for Coca-Cola, said that PowerAde will sponsor two male and two female triathletes from the CNMI for the upcoming race as “a demonstration of the Company’s commitment of support to its sports community and athletes.”

The sponsorship includes not only the coverage of entry fees for the four athletes, but also a reasonable supply of PowerAde products to assist the athletes as they train. “We feel that this sporting event represents athletics at its finest and requires discipline, determination, and endurance from the athletes,” commented San Pedro. “We1re very excited to see Team PowerAde.” Interested persons are asked to contact Michael or Tess at 234-6449.
