Hopwood Junior High School administration announced that the Western Association of Schools and Colleges’ has reaffirmed the accreditation of HJHS with the prestigious United States-based institution.

Both Dr. Carolyn Kelso and Patricia Bennett gave the Hopwood good remarks in its efforts to address nine key issues raised by a WASC team during its 1999 visit.

In addition, the school received six commendations reflecting the positive changes and improvements made during the school year.

At the same time, HJHS said it will release the third quarter report cards on April 11 from 4pm to 7pm. School administration said classes will be dismissed early that day, as it advised parents and guardians that students should already be home shortly after 12:35pm.

HJHS reminds students and parents or their guardians that attendance is very important, noting that 13 excused or unexcused absences in a semester means that the student receives NO CREDIT (NC) and must repeat the course.

Truancy or cutting classes and not coming to school also affects attendance, the school administration said, adding that students must also do homework and quiet reading for at least one hour each evening.

HJHS administration also said there is no school for Hopwood students on April 12-13 and April 16-20 for Easter break.

School administration also reminds parents and guardians that the education of students is equally shared by the them and the school.
