Telesource donates for Red Cross Walkathon

The American Red Cross announced that Telesource has committed as a major donor for the Red Cross Walkathon to be held on April 28. Telesource has been a loyal donor to the NMI Chapter, supporting both the Club 200 and the Walkathon event.

“It is precisely because of the private sector’s support such as Telesource’s, that we are able to fulfill our promise to the community that “We’ll Be There”, said Executive Director Nicole Michael.

Teachers’ association meeting set

The Association of Commonwealth Teachers, known as ACT, will meet at the San Antonio Elementary School Library on April 11 at 3:45pm. All teachers, as well as those who are interested to help improve education for the CNMI children, schools, and teaching conditions in the CNMI are invited to attend.

Issues that will be tackled during the meeting include: revising the protocol for electing a teacher representative to the School Board; reviewing existing BOE policies and their impact on teaching and teachers; developing a teacher feature or teacher recognition program; and proposals for reducing the high teacher turnover in public schools.

Marianas High School Report Card Day

Marianas High School announced the distribution of report card for school year 2000-2001 for Block B-1st Semester, January-March 2001. All parents/legal guardians are reminded to come to the Marianas High School Cafeteria between 4pm and 7pm to pick up their children’s report card for Block B-1st Semester from their school counselor.

Parents and legal guardians are encouraged to visit their children’s teachers as they will be available in their class room to answer questions pertaining to your child’s progress in class.

Oleai Elementary School Spring Carnival 2001

May 12, 2001 is a significant day for the diversified culture at Oleai Elementary School. OES and its PTSA are hosting the school’s Spring Carnival. This fundraising activity will be launched to support the school’s ongoing improvement projects, including the purchase of classroom furniture’s and other classroom needs.

Everyone is invited to enjoy and have fun with the students and their parents. The Spring Carnival will showcase the following activities: live entertainment from local entertainers; game booths; local arts and crafts demonstration; Mother’s Day photo session booth; rummage sale;

Barney’s and Memong’s are selling hot lunches and some special snacks. Other vendors are also encouraged to participate in the fundraising activity. For inquiries, call 234-6167.
