A former Joeten employee is facing two-count theft charges before the Superior Court amid allegations that he pocketed cash from the company last 1999.

The government lodged yesterday the criminal suit against Lorenzo Atalig Barcinas alleging that he unlawfully stole money from J.C. Tenorio Enterprises Incorporated, doing business as Joeten Hafa Adai Shopping Center.

According to court documents, during the months of October through December 1999, the 35-year-old defendant illegally acquired an amount of US currency at least $250 but less than $20,000 in value.

Mr. Barcinas, a resident of Navy Hill, has been charged with two counts of theft and theft by deception for allegedly obtaining the property from the business entity by creating a false impression regarding his reports and accounting records while he was employed by J. C. Tenorio Enterprises Inc.

The defendant has been summoned to appear in court on April 30 at 9am to answer to the charges.(MM)
