Search on for outstanding overseas Filipino workers
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration announced yesterday the start of the annual search for outstanding Filipino workers for the year and the conferment of 10 Bagong Bayani Awards.
The search for the most outstanding overseas Filipino workers is an annual undertaking sponsored by POEA in coordination with the Bagong Bayani Foundation.
POEA Administrator Rosalinda Baldoz said the first level of screening of nominations will be crucial for the final determination of the truly deserving awardees.
An OFW may be nominated by anyone except for Philippine labor department employees. A candidate shall be nominated for an outstanding contribution made or accomplished as an overseas contract worker.
The contribution may be defined as any accomplishment, feat, exploit, deed or act of heroism which has created impact by fostering good relations between the Philippines and the host country or enhancing the image of the Filipino as a worker.
The Bagong Bayani Awards 2001 is a search for outstanding OFW as a new breed of heroes, fostering goodwill among the people of the world, enhancing the image of the Filipino as a competent and responsible workers, and greatly contributing to the nation’s foreign exchange earnings.
Ten Bagong Bayani Awards will be given to nominees whose contributions and accomplishment were done while an overseas contract worker.
Nomination forms are available at the Philippine Consulate. Deadline for submission of nominations and requirements is April 30, 2001. Winners will be given plaques and medals of recognition plus P10,000 cash awards.
