A 38-year-old man is accused before the Superior Court of theft charges on allegations that he stole money from a marine sports company which he allegedly used to avail of the establishment’s services.

In a complaint filed at the courts yesterday, the government alleged that defendant Antonio Cabrera Cruz, a resident of Chalan Piao, illegally obtained cash from the Garapan-based company by creating a false impression with the intention of using the US currency as deposit for marine sports activities.

He allegedly put up the stolen cash for a submarine tour, jetski/parasail/banana boat package with the TaoTao Marine Sports.

Mr. Cruz is charged with one count of theft by deception and another count of theft based on an incident that happened last November 24, 2000.

The aggregate value of money stolen from owners Tezuka Toshio and Naito Mitsoaki reportedly amounts to at least $250 but less than $250,000.

The plaintiff claims that the suspect did unlawfully take, use or consume the property or services of the water sports establishment with the intent to deprive its owners the rights to the property.

Mr. Cruz has been summoned to appear in court on May 14, 2001 at 9am. (MM)
