Another Japanese tourist fell prey to a freak diving accident at the Laolao Bay last week.

Tsutomo Ogura, 59, belitted at the Coral Ocean Point almost drowned after he reportedly lost control of his paddling fins during his second dive, witnesses told police.

Rescuers already found the victim floating on water, unconscious.

Two other divers at the scene attempted to resuscitate Mr. Ogura back to consciousness.

He was immediately transported to the Commonwealth Health Center and was admitted to the ICU for further observation.

Mr. Ogura is only one of many casualties of water sports-related mishaps on Saipan waters since January of this year.

Shortly after local hero Galileo Torwal’s death last Jan. 21, another Japanese tourist Akihisa Takeda, 44, also drowned at the Grotto.
