Public assistance sought in road crash

The Department of Public Safety and the Traffic Investigation Unit is seeking public assistance regarding a traffic accident that occurred last February 23, 2002. The crash happened around 2am at the Microl Corporation intersection in San Jose, Saipan. The DPS noted the possibility of some people witnessing the accident, as the department urges witnesses to call the Traffic Investigation Unit and look for Officer Andrea Ozawa or leave a message at 664-9084/5.

SCS victorious in Regional NJFL meet

The Hopwood Junior High School hosted hundreds of participants in last Saturday’s forensic meet. Competition was fierce as members of the National Junior Honor Society, along with the PGFC, vied for spots in the CNMI team that will compete in Guam on May 11.

Franklin Camacho, Jose Quan, Emily Jang, Daniella Peterson, Soleana Demapan, Ronnie Sikayun, Robert Mojica, Caisha Sablan, Lourdes Mack, and Frannie Demapan represented the Saipan Community School.

Many schools participated but the Saipan Community School emerged the winner. Out of seven categories, the SCS took four first places.

The winners are:

Prose: Frannie Demapan, 1st; Caisha Sablan, 2nd; Robert Mojica, 5th.

Poetry: Ronnie Sikayun, 1st.

Duo Interpretation: Frannie Demapan and Lourdes Mack, 1st; Soleana Demapan and Ronnie Sikayun, 5th.

Original Oratory: Daniella Peterson, 1st.

Humorous Interpretation: Soleana Demapan, 4th.

MHS Class of 1992 meeting

The Reunion Committee for the Marianas High School Class of 1992 will be having a meeting on Sunday, April 21, at 2pm at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library. All MHS Class of 92 members are invited to participate in planning what will be the best and grandest reunion to date.

Included on the agenda is finalization of plans for the upcoming Reunion Ball. Other planned activities will also be discussed. This will be a fun meeting complete with refreshments and reminiscing – all class members are encouraged to attend.

VMFA 225 to give F/A-18 tours

The CMCAS Miramar, California-based VMFA (AW)-225 Vikings cyber squadron will conduct public tours of its cyber F/A-18 Hornet at the Saipan International Airport this weekend. Tours will be conducted from 10 am to 12 pm on Sunday, April 18, at the commuter terminal. VMFA (AW)-225 is a All Weather Fighter Attack squadron.
