62 KES students bid farewell
A total of 62 students from Koblerville Elementary School earned promotions to the junior high school educational level yesterday, receiving certificates of completion during the school’s end of the year farewell ceremony.
The ceremony kicked off with the presentation of colors and singing of the U.S. and CNMI national anthems by the STUCO and the Boy Scouts.
After welcoming remarks in three languages—English, Carolinian, and Chamorro—courtesy of students Genevieve Ngiraibuuch, Shannah Kaipat, and Ernest Cruz, Lt. Gov. Diego T. Benavente spoke to the graduating class as keynote speaker.
Benavente commended the students for completing grade school, and followed this up by challenging each one to continue to pursue success in life through education.
Following Benavente’s remarks, several individual were recognized for their academic efforts, with school officials presenting various awards, including the Presidential Awards for Educational Achievement, Presidential Awards fro Educational Excellence, subject awards, and Top Five awards.
It was only fitting that Ester Paul, the student posting the highest Grade Point Average from fourth to sixth grade, was honored and recognized; she was named the recipient of the Commissioner’s Award.
Paul made a brief appearance at the podium, extending her appreciation to her parents, teachers, KES staff and administrators, and fellow classmates.
Acting principal Happy Miller then closed the ceremony by congratulating the students for their achievements and noting her desire that they display the skills they had learned at the school once they enter junior high level.
Prior to closing their school year, the students had final walk around the campus. They, along with parents, guest, and staff, had lunch in the school cafeteria.
