Free lifestyle education workshop set
The Diabetes Prevention and Control Program, in collaboration with Secretariat of the Pacific Community is planning a free workshop called the CNMI Lifestyle Education Workshop.
The workshop is for health and lifestyle educators, and the intention is to meet as a group to discuss current guidelines for lifestyle intervention, as well as current educational materials developed by SPC and used throughout the Pacific and some adapted specifically for CNMI.
It aims to review progress in the CNMI on lifestyle and diet guidelines; expand use and availability to all CNMI lifestyle educators; and discuss and unify current guidelines used in the CNMI.
By the end of the meeting:
* Participants will have received a refresher of the Pacific lifestyle guidelines;
* Agreement will be reached on CNMI lifestyle and dietary guidelines to be used by all groups represented;
* A process will be agreed for producing resources and training to support the use of these guidelines throughout CNMI.
The head of the SPC Lifestyle section, Wendy Snowdon, will be facilitating the meeting.
Department of Public Health nutritionist Jill Vanderkin asked that the Commonwealth Diabetes Coalition send one person who works in the area of health education to the free workshop.
The workshop will be held at the Saipan Multi-Purpose Center, at 8am-4:30pm, on Monday, June 14, and 12:30-4:30pm on Tuesday, June 15.
