Three new Internet-based modules will allow Pacific health professionals to learn about chronic and infectious diseases so that they can provide health education for local residents.

Developed by Pacific Resources for Education and Learning for the World Health Organization, these interactive learning modules address the prevention and treatment of diseases that are of particular concern to Pacific Islanders.

The modules are part of the WHOs Pacific Open Learning Health Net project, and are available at www.prel.org/healthonline.

The modules focus on diabetes, HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, and mosquito-borne diseases. Along with clear, non-technical information about preventing and treating these diseases, the modules also provide advice on designing presentations and adapting the content for local audiences.

You can find out more about the WHO’s Pacific Open Learning Health Net project at www.polhn.com.
