The 8th Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council recently adopted a resolution praising non-profit organizations MOVER, KAMPIL, BICOL, POWER and HANMI, and business partners CTSI, Pacific Trading, Duty Free Shoppers, Ltd., Mobil Marianas, Glimpses and others for their strong commitment to ensure a healthy, safe and clean environment in the beautiful island of Saipan.

The resolution particularly cited MOVER president Helita B. Romero; KAMPIL president Honorio Cambronero; Bicol president Lito Marquez; POWER president Socorro Borja; HANMI point-of-contact B.K. Park; business partners CTSI’s Rene Magalong; Pacific Trading’s Charles V. Cepeda; Duty Free Shoppers Ltd. president Marian Aldan-Pierce; Mobil Marianas public and government relations manager Cecile B. Suda; Glimpses HANMI coordinator Jojo V. Dass, and their members.

According to the resolution, these groups and their members—through a collective and collaborative partnership with government agencies—have addressed the cleanup of unsanitary and clogged drainage systems on the island.

“These non-profit organizations and business partners are collectively working toward addressing other critical environmental concerns,” the resolution said.

Government agencies that are linking up with these groups include Coastal Resources Management Office and EICOT chair Benny K. Pangelinan; Victorino S. Cepeda, Office of the Mayor Of Saipan; EICOT members Glenn Arriola, Division of Environmental Quality; David B. Cepeda, Bureau of Environmental Health; Martin M. Sablan; Frank Sablan and Henry Bautista, Department of Public Works; Antonio T. Benavente, Parks & Recreation; Cristito Alepuyo, Division of Fish and Wildlife; Mathias (Mac) Chargualaf, Commonwealth Utility Corp.; Frank Tudela, Marianas Visitors Authority; and Daniel Camacho, Department Of Commerce.

“The members of the municipal council join the people of Saipan in extending special recognition, congratulation and commendation to these non-profit organizations, their business partners, and other affiliated members for a job well done,” the resolution adds.

The resolution was certified by chair Gregorio V. Deleon Guerrero and vice chair David A. Indalecio and attested by secretary Antonia M. Tudela.
