Hofschneider now with DLNR?
Former Marianas Public Lands Authority commissioner Henry Hofschneider has reportedly been hired as assistant to the secretary of the Department of Land and Natural Resources and would begin reporting for work today.
News sources from the MPLA and the DLNR separately disclosed this information, amid the controversy surrounding the effective termination of Hofschneider as MPLA commissioner.
DLNR Secretary Richard Seman could not be reached as of press time for confirmation.
Hofschneider’s effective termination from the MPLA’s top executive post came out after MPLA board chairman Ana Demapan-Castro appointed Edward Deleon Guerrero as the new commissioner sometime last month.
Demapan-Castro initially suspended Hofschneider on July 9 for alleged insubordination. The chair accused the Hofschneider of wrongdoing when he allowed the Commonwealth Development Authority to alter a requisition document without the MPLA board’s approval.
The suspension, which was supposed to end on July 29, was extended indefinitely.
Hofschneider has reportedly filed a lawsuit in federal court, challenging Demapan-Castro’s actions. (John Ravelo)
