Vendors sought for energy fair
How much money could you save on your monthly utility bill by practicing energy conservation? Consumers can discover the answer to that and many questions more at the REACh Energy Fair slated for Nov. 20, 2004.
On the heels of Energy Fairs on Tinian and Rota last month, the Residential Energy Assistance Challenge, or REACh, program of the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs is bringing the consumer education fair to Saipan to teach families and other consumers about power consumption and energy saving products.
“Most people would like to reduce their utility costs, and this fair is designed to increase public awareness of ways to save energy and money through energy conservation,” said REACh coordinator Linda Concepcion-Torres.
REACh is now soliciting vendors of energy conservation products to demonstrate and sell energy saving products, including compact fluorescent lights and Energy Star appliances. REACh, the DCCA Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, and Department of Public Works Energy Division will also conduct demonstrations.
The fair will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, from 9am to 3pm at the parking lot of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium in Oleai. There will be free live entertainment onstage and food sold onsite.
Vendors of energy conservation products or services should register by Nov. 15, 2004, to conduct demonstrations or sales at the REACh Energy Fair. Food and entertainment vendors are also welcome. Registration forms are available at the DCCA Office of the Secretary, 1341 Ascencion Drive, Capitol Hill, or by contacting Concepcion-Torress at 670-664-2576.
REACh is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and aims to promote public education on energy assistance and conservation, to promote the understanding of budget matters families, and to help clients of the DCCA Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program achieve energy self-sufficiency.
