Phi Theta Kappa honors new members

The Northern Marianas College recently celebrated the induction of 20 new members into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society at a gala affair.

Family, friends, faculty and members of the NMC Board of Regents and administration were present to honor students who had distinguished themselves by maintaining a 3.5 average overall, in addition to finding time to serve and to contribute to the Commonwealth through various voluntary endeavors, leadership activities, employment and family commitments as well.

The solemn induction ceremony was followed by a lavish buffet.

The Beta Lambda Psi Chapter was launched in April 2002 at NMC. This Fall 2004 induction is the fourth and largest so far for NMC. Twenty students were tapped for membership.

The new members are their majors are: Lisha (Lisa) L. Zhu (Accounting), Brenda Cabrera (Business Management), Tersha Yvonne B.Tenorio (Criminal Justice), Eileen C. Fleming (Criminal Justice), Marzorie M. Masters (Elementary Education), Rose Marie P. Jones (Elementary Education), Alisa Ann T. Pangelinan (Elementary Education), Zachary J. Berger (Film/ Media Arts), Rabby F. Syed (Film/ Media Arts), Mona P Camacho (Liberal Arts), Clarissa H.Campos (Liberal Arts), Rochelle Ann B. Roberto (Liberal Arts), Shelly Ann G Tudela (Liberal Arts), Kaye M. Christian (Liberal Arts), Victoria B.Taitague (Nursing), Mary Ann A.Tam (Nursing), Rofelina B Madlambayan (Nursing), Shiela B. Figueroa (Nursing), Claudagh S Pascua (Nursing), and Leticia D. Reyes (Nursing).

Officers of the Beta Lambda Psi Chapter are Tatiana Babauta, president; Leslie Cabrera, vice president; Kuan Yuan, treasurer; See Cabrera, membership secretary; Kasy Santos, recording secretary; and Lucia Henry, publicity secretary.

The Phi Theta Kappa has recognized academic excellence in the two-year college since 1918. It is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 1.5 million members and 1,200 chapters located in the 50 United States, U.S. territories, Canada, and Germany.
