Secret meetings of the MPLA board and Azmar

It boggles the mind that the board of directors of the Marianas Public Lands Authority has the gall to engage in “strategy” meetings at the exclusion of the opposition. This very decision (on a highly explosive issue) exacerbates the fire of suspicion from A to Z.

The MPLA ought to review the meaning of the concept “sustainable development” if only to avail itself of the opportunity to engage in listening and protecting the pristine beauty of home for those who were born and raised on Pagan. Their sentiments didn’t spin out of thin air. Thus, their painful decision to fight every inch of the way to guard it from exploitation and subsequent destruction.

“Sustainable development has been defined as development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” This is the very issue being implemented today by the United Nations in an effort to bring harmony between mankind and its environment.

The Saipan lagoon is a perfect example of continuing negligence and man-associated destruction of fish habitat and pollution of beaches where tourists and residents gather for a day in the sun.

Furthermore, I associate myself with Mr. Gus Litulumar’s recent expression of the concept of “listening” to the very people we represent. The 16th president of our country remains the most revered for his ability to listen to his people in both good and bad times. He remains the top researched leader by management gurus all over the world for his success as a leader. He did one thing and one thing for sure: He listened to his people, especially families of soldiers killed in battlefields. Hello, anybody home?
