United Filipino Organization of Saipan received donations of more than 30 boxes for its Sagip Kapamilya 2004 relief drive at the 13 Fishermen Memorial Pavilion yesterday.

Representatives of organizations under the UFO umbrella attended the event. These include CNMI Power, Samahan ng Manggagawang Filipino, Cabalen, Bayani Association, Samahang Ilokano at Pangasinense, Movers (Leon Agda Jr.), NAMFREL, MDX Amateur Radio Group, and the other members of the CNMI Filipino community. SARS Ltd. and KAMPIL also assisted in the said event.

According to UFO the relief drive will run every Sunday for the whole month of January from 8am to 5pm at the 13 Fishermen Memorial Pavilion. Proceeds from the relief drive will be directly forwarded by CTSI to ABS-CBN Foundation in Manila, Philippines.

UFO said it was grateful to people who initially donated toys and clothing for the victims of Super Typhoon Winnie, which struck the Philippines late last year resulting in more than a thousand lost lives.

The organization still encourages Filipinos and other nationalities on Saipan to lend a helping hand to the less fortunate in the Philippines who suffered from the said calamity. (Marconi Calindas)
