The Marianas Memorial Pathway Committee said that memorial brick pavers are still for sale to the public. The bricks will be installed and the Memorial Pathway dedicated this summer.

“What started as a fundraiser for the 60th anniversary of the Battles of Saipan and Tinian has now changed into an even more meaningful project for the CNMI,” said Lt. Gov. Diego T. Benavente, co-chair of the committee. “The Marianas Memorial Pathway will be a beautiful extension of the Garapan revitalization project, and will provide our citizens the opportunity to put their names and have a place in CNMI history. I encourage people to come forward and put your name in that pathway.”

The original and primary purpose of the Marianas Memorial Pathway was to commemorate June 2004’s 60th anniversary of the World War II battles of Saipan and Tinian, and the people whose lives were affected by the war. Now the pathway is being expanded to include engraved bricks that can commemorate people and their loved ones’ connection and involvement in CNMI history.

“For only $60, you can purchase a personalized brick paver that will endure through history,” said a statement from the committee. “Brick pavers with your children’s names or with your family name will illustrate your place as a member of this community. You can celebrate special occasions in a loved one’s life. Or it could be the perfect gift to remember someone who has lived on Saipan, a memento of his or her contribution to CNMI.”

These unique commemorative brick pavers will be for sale for only a few more months. Look for special tables where the brick pavers are sold at businesses or community events. Or you can call or visit the Saipan Chamber of Commerce, located in the Family Building on Garapan Street across from the Bank of Saipan. Phone is 233-7150.

“Don’t miss your chance to buy one of these exclusive brick pavers. Be sure to leave your legacy on Saipan!” the statement adds.
