It’s time for the young Allen Iverson’s and Carmello Anthony’s of Saipan to lace up the kicks and dust off their game, as the start of the 8th Annual Island-wide Village Basketball League is right around the corner.

The Mayor’s Office and the Division of Sports and Recreation are working together bringing back the popular league that features tomorrow’s roundball stars on village courts across the island

Managers and coaches will have their first meeting for the upcoming league on Wednesday, Feb. 9, in the conference room of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium at 9:30AM. Team officials are reminded that the deadline to submit the $100 registration fee is at the meeting, and according to league coordinator Joe Mettao there is only one policy, “No pay, no play.”

The tentative date for the first round of games to begin is on Monday, Feb. 28, so teams have roughly one month to run tip drills and run the lines before opening tip off.
