In support of a part-time legislature

I AM IN FAVOR OF A PART-TIME LEGISLATURE! The CNMI government spends too much money trying to make itself look sophisticated and proving that it is not. After reading the article by Liberty Dones (28/01/05) entitled “Minority Bloc Boycotts Session” and discovering that passage of the part-time legislature bill introduced by Rep. Norita was on the agenda, it occurred to me that perhaps Representatives Tebuteb, Hofschneider, Apatang, and Attao boycotted the session so that a part-time legislature could not be placed on our next voting agenda. Until I hear otherwise, I have decided not to vote for these members at the next election. If I’m wrong, I hope an explanation will be forthcoming from these honorable representatives. If I’m right, I urge other voters, of my same thinking, to do the same. I would also like to give THREE CHEERS for the Letter to the Editor from Pamoulis Ramaoujon in the same Tribune issue. Enough nonsense. Writers, attack the issues. I don’t enjoy reading your personal gripes. Right On, Pamoulis!
