Volunteers are becoming rare but for the Division of Youth Services under the wing of the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, volunteerism has become stronger through the years and this effort was recognized by DYS through a Volunteers Appreciation dinner held last Friday, Jan. 28 at the poolside of Hyatt Regency Saipan.

DCCA Secretary Juan L. Babauta expressed his gratitude to all volunteers and donors who never tire of lending a helping hand to the community. He said the gathering was the office’s token of appreciation for their support.

Babauta handed out plaques of appreciation to their top donors—Hyatt Regency Saipan, Duty Free Shop Galleria, and the Lady’s Lunch Group—for their consistent support to DYS and its fundraising and donation drive activities, especially during Christmas.

Individual volunteers were also honored, with commemorative service pins and goody bags given to them.

Over 125 volunteer and donors attended the event. DYS recognized the assistance provided by Verizon, IT&E Overseas, D&Q, Saipan Photolab, Hard Rock Café, Pacific Island Club Resort, Marianas Resort and Spa, Shell Marianas, Pacific Trading, Delta Management Corp., Joeten Motors Corp., and Microl Corp.

DYS said it aims to further increase the number of volunteers in their office for upcoming events and projects that the office has outlined for the year.
