Saipan Aikido Marlins need players for SML
There are just a couple of weeks remaining until teams lace up their cleats and warm up their arms to take on the defending champion Miller Lite Brewers in the 2005 Saipan Major League baseball season, and while most of the teams have completed their sign-ups, there is still a chance for players without a team.
For all of the aspiring players that are still looking to get onto the field at Saipan’s top level, Henry Hurt of the Saipan Aikido Marlins may have some good news for you.
Hurt’s new squad will round out the upcoming SML list of teams in the sixth slot, but he needs a few more players before the roster is complete.
This Saturday, Feb. 5, the Marlins will be holding a mandatory tryout for walk-on sluggers and fielders at the Francisco M. Palacios Baseball Field at 1pm.
The highest caliber of hardball to hit Saipan is tentatively scheduled to return to the Palacios baseball field on Monday, Feb. 21, but that all depends on the progress of the necessary repairs to the Oleai facility that were brought about by Typhoons Tingting and Chaba.
