Two employers allowed to hire alien workers
Two separate employers provided sufficient documents proving they are financially capable of employing workers during recent Labor hearings, resulting in Hearing Officer Maya Kara granting the processing of labor permit applications for their employees.
Kara remanded the application filed by Pacific Jun’s Corp. for new hires Jin Zhe Jun, Cui Ming Ri, and Ji Yuan Jun to the Processing Section after the employer presented update certification from Bank of Hawaii showing a balance in excess of the minimum requirement in assets per employee.
The department requires that employers have at least $10,000 in assets per employee. The applications were earlier denied by the department director after the employer’s bank account was found not adequate to meet the standard.
“The deficiency having been cured, the department recommended that the denial be reversed and the permits be processed,” Kara said.
The application filed by Micronesian Woodcraft Ent. Inc. for Rodrigo Companero was also ordered by Kara to resume processing after the employer provided an updated balance sheet, listing assets and liabilities of the company.
After reviewing the updated sheet, the Division of Employment Services and Training changed its earlier assessment, which found the employer insolvent, and requested the denial be reversed. (Shan Seman)
