Guam senators to be given a naval base tour

The commander of the U.S. Naval Forces Marianas has invited senators with the 28th Guam Legislature to tour Navy commands and facilities today, Feb. 3.

Senators will have the opportunity to visit several sites on base, including Sumay, a pre-World War II village; Kilo Wharf; Fena Reservoir; and Polaris Point.

Along the way, island dignitaries will see several military commands, such as Mobile Security Squadron 7, Military Sealift Command, Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 7, and Submarine Squadron 15.

Prior to the two-hour tour, the senators will meet with Navy leaders, including Rear Adm. Arthur Johnson, commander of Naval Forces Marianas; Capt. Robert McNaught, commanding officer of Naval Base Guam and chief of staff of Naval Marianas; Capt. Bradley Gehrke, commander of Submarine Squadron 15; Capt. David Boone, commanding officer of Public Works Center, Guam; Capt. Katherine Rief, commanding officer of U.S. Naval Hospital, Guam; and Cmdr. Jeffrey Beaty, executive officer of Naval Base Guam.

The tour will conclude with a luncheon at Top O’ the Mar.
