The CNMI Public School System is launching a campaign to raise money and awareness for the victims of South Asia’s recent tsunami. Project Gineftao Liffan (“giving generously”) will be ongoing for the rest of the school year, with quarterly collections.

The first PSS-wide collection is due on March 23, 2005.

Student participation forms the foundation of the fundraising efforts. As PSS strives to raise globally conscious citizens, students will be able to download activities that directly tie in their contributions to the areas most heavily affected by the tsunamis. Students will not only be asked to engage in activities to raise money, but will be able to share in classroom lessons that directly correspond to the issues of water usage, etc.

All funds will be sent to a children’s organization that is aimed at building schools, learning centers, orphanages and medical clinics in South Asia.
