Several hundred red-blooded New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles fans invaded various venues on Saipan and Tinian Monday to witness Super Bowl XXX1X.

Patriot supporters made the most of their “vacation and sick leaves” when Tom Brady and company romped away with the Vince Lombardi for the third time in four years, while Eagles loyalists would’ve to wait another year to quench their collective thirst for a Super Bowl championship.

Elsewhere, the D9ers hoisted the championship of the 2005 Island Wide Fast Pitch Softball League last Feb. 4 after vanquishing Saipancell/NMC Proa in three hard-fought ballgames at the Oleai Sports Complex.

In the 2004 Government Basketball League, Department of Public Safety II gained the first finals seat after upsetting pennant champions Public School System, 89-82, Monday.

Department of Labor became the second finalist when they defeated an out-of-sync DPS I squad, 75-64, Friday night.

There were also plenty of volleyball action—both on the hard court and the sand court—as play in the Island Wide Volleyball League and the Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association qualifiers continued last week.
