Calling all NMIVA members
The 13th Annual Marianas Cup Beach Volleyball Festival is just a couple of days away, and the organizers of the Northern Marianas Volleyball Association are calling for all members to gather tonight to make sure that everyone is on the same beach mat before the festivities begin.
According to NMIVA secretary Steve Nguyen, tonight’s meeting will take place at 7pm at the Pacific Islands Club in the Napu Room, and anyone from the top-players to the interested beginners is invited.
“We’ll be discussing the upcoming Marianas Cup Beach Volleyball Festival, which is the biggest beach volleyball tournament in the CNMI, the issue of student discounts, the adoption of a logo, the selection of representatives for the 2005 South Pacific Mini Games, the Jam Attack coming up in March, the particulars associated with obtaining sponsors for volleyball clinics, and horseshoe tournament scheduled for this Sunday afternoon,” he said.
Nguyen also wanted to remind the public that the tournament is open to players of all levels from professional to beginner, and that there will be raffle tickets sold for amateurs to play with the pros.
“The pros won’t be paired together, and some of the lucky amateurs will get to play along side some big time players from the mainland and Japan,” said Nguyen.
The drawing for the professional teammates will take place this Friday, Feb. 25 during an exhibition match at 7pm between the top players.
