The Office of the Attorney General yesterday filed assault and battery and stalking charges against a 32-year-old high school teacher.

Chief prosecutor David Hutton charged Kagman High School teacher Stanley T. Iakopo with three counts of assault and battery, two counts of disturbing the peace, and a count of criminal mischief for an incident on Dec. 31, 2004.

Iakopo allegedly assaulted a woman and Frank C. Tudela, biting Tudela on the face and ear while at J’s Restaurant in Gualo Rai.

Hutton’s charges also showed that Iakopo damaged a flower vase belonging to the establishment, valued at less than $250.

Iakopo was also slapped with charges from another criminal case, including two counts of assault and battery, a count of disturbing the peace, interfering with a domestic violence report, and stalking in the second degree.

Documents filed show that on Feb 22, 2005, Iakopo spat and punched a female victim. He then interfered when the victim attempted to contact authorities to report the incident.

Hutton also charged the suspect of depriving the victim of her right to peace as well as repeatedly making calls to the victim’s cell phone, confronting and harassing the victim.
